Add or remove Indian GST at standard 18% or reduced 5% rate for invoicing and procurement.
India's GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a destination-based consumption tax with four main rates: - **0%**, essential items: food grains, fresh vegetables, milk, books - **5%**, packaged food, transport, economy hotel rooms - **12%**, processed food, business class air travel, mobile phones - **18%**, most services, electronics, consumer goods, financial services - **28%**, luxury goods, automobiles, tobacco (not available in this calculator; use 18% for most services) For intra-state supply, GST splits equally into CGST (Central) + SGST (State). For inter-state supply, it becomes IGST. **Adding GST:** Gross = Net × (1 + rate). Example: ₹10,000 + 18% = ₹11,800.
GST has four main rates: 0% (food grains, fresh produce, books), 5% (packaged food, economy hotel, transport), 12% (processed food, business travel), 18% (most services, electronics, consumer goods). A 28% rate applies to luxury items, cars, and tobacco. Most B2B services fall under 18%.
For intra-state transactions (buyer and seller in same state): GST splits as CGST (central) + SGST (state), each at half the applicable rate. 18% GST = 9% CGST + 9% SGST. For inter-state transactions: IGST (Integrated) equals the full rate (18% IGST). The split is an administrative distinction, but the total tax is the same.
GST registration is mandatory if annual aggregate turnover exceeds ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh for special category states) for goods, or ₹20 lakh for services. Inter-state suppliers must register regardless of turnover. E-commerce operators and their sellers also have specific GST obligations.
